the sweetest sight by ForgottenBee

sitting on the seat in the shade by the sea

relaxed, not a care, feeling calm, feeling happy

nibbling on freshly made chips

deliciously coated in vinegar and salt

people watching

children shouting, couples holding hands

dogs running in and out of the sea, rolling in the sand

pushchairs passing loaded up with things

seagulls squeal and squawk beating their wings

and then you see the sweetest sight

a young boy for the first time flying a kite

with a grin so big he almost took flight

as the dragon and tail swooped and circled

catching the current as it excitedly hurtled

his father’s guiding hands on the strings holding tight

making slight skilful movements to increase the height

it brings back fond memories of your own childhood

long forgotten but boy they were good

coming to the bottom of the salty cone

you toss it in the bin and with a contended smile head for home
