The snap of a branch as you pass underneath,
sends fear rushing through veins,
you can barely breath.
You start to quicken pace
feeling someone close behind,
rustling of leaves,
whispers in trees,
eerie sounds that start to play tricks with your mind.
A flash of white light so bright it almost blinds,
an outline of a twisted figure,
shadows of darkness define.
The clock hands begin to spin,
atmosphere freezing cold
it burns the skin.
as doors slam shut and windows shatter.
Sounds so piercing,
making ears bleed and animals scatter.
